We continue to lose more of our souls every single day.
Why do so many hunger to have someone to hate? There is a hunger to have someone to blame for the world's problems. And a shot rings out.
They hear someone say something different than what they believe and wish them dead. Just as convicted, we know they are wrong! And the violence continues.
On our local news, we learn of yet another shooting or stabbing every day. It gets overlooked and set aside. Life doesn't matter. Shootings at schools, shootings in public and private places are just another fact of life.
Stabbings on a train. We say, "more should be done!" What about the one that happened the day before?
What about the guy who drove a rented truck through the streets of New Orleans to see how many he could hit and kill?
We fuel anger and hate and blame someone else for starting it.
Rather than working for answers, we hold press conferences and protests and scream and yell.
The chasm is getting wider. The world is getting darker. We move on.
9/12/2001 was one of the greatest days of unity and compassion. And it slowly faded away. We go on.
We say we want peace, yet we lust for violence. Another news reel, another "Breaking News," and we are transfixed by all we can soak in.
We mock people of faith. We judge people who have been harmed. And the chasm grows. And we continue on.
Are we searching for answers? Really?
Or do we like the turmoil in which we live?
We need someone to argue with? We need someone we can debate. We need someone for all of our hate.
We go on and on and on.
I guess if Jesus says love your enemies, we have to choose someone to fill the role.
Hate seems so much easier than love.
My heart breaks.
I have no words.
Jesus weeps.
We are the reason why.
We still don't get it. And more will die.
We look in the mirror and say, "It isn't I!"
My friends, let's take the plank out of our eye.
Every life matters. Every person is sacred. All are created in God's image.
Let's start there. See the beauty of the diversity of God's creation.
Can we be the light?
